THE GENEALOGIES RECORDED IN THE SACRED SCRIPTURES ACCORDING TO EVERY FAMILY AND TRIBE WITH THE LINE OF OUR SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST, OBSERVED FROM ADAM TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, paginated 1-34 , by English Cartographer and Historian John Speed, a pictorial family tree of Christ from God the Father through Mary and Joseph. Bound here at the end of the book instead of the front as usually found. Lacks the title page, leaves one/two & nine/ ten. Leaves three/four, five/six and seven/eight repaired with partial loss to the images. Paper is moderately stained. NO loose or torn pages, clean gutters, straight edges and good corners. Bound without the Speed map as issued. The presence of this work, even though incomplete, is a bonus being somewhat of a rarity.

The John Speed genealogies and map of the holy land were often not bound in this fourth folio of 1634 nor the fifth folio of 1640 according to famed Bible collector and researcher Francis Fry. He further mentions in his book that he had examined 108 examples of the five issues and found just  four in a 1634 edition and only one in a 1640 edition. He had never found a map bound in a 1640 edition.

*A WORD FROM THE CONSERVATOR*

This Bible has undergone a page by page comprehensive paper conservation leaving  no condition concerns or further actions required . Many newer collectors often call into question the authenticity of our Bibles because of their outstanding , fine condition. As with any item of age, value is determined according to condition-condition-condition ! This ancient 18th century treasure is NOT a replica, reproduction, facsimile, reprint or forgery. The fine art of hand bookbinding is alive and well.

We strive hard to acquire only those Bibles which we would like to collect ourselves, perform any needed restoration work professionally to archival standards and present them to you free from concerns. There has been much discussion regarding the addition of this volume to our permanent collection !
